See you next year!

October 6th, 2008

The second annual NorthBEAST Regional Poetry Slam was a great success! Huge thanks to everyone who traveled to compete, volunteer, or spectate at our twelve-team, two-day event.

Congratulations, too, to our team slams winners: the Nuyorican Poets Cafe (Manhattan, N.Y.), the Poets’ Asylum (Worcester, Mass.), and the Boston Poetry Slam @ the Cantab Lounge. Our individual finals winner was April Ranger, competing for the Cantab, trailed by Nicole Homer from Lincroft, N.J., Adam Stone from Worcester, and Leslie McIntosh from Philadelphia, Penn. For complete scores, click RESULTS in the menu to the right.

We hope everyone enjoyed the event, and we hope to see you next year. Go NorthBEAST!

NorthBEAST!

September 8th, 2008

Welcome to the second annual NorthBEAST Regional Poetry Slam!

Buy tickets now at poetrytickets.com, or friend us at MySpace!

The NorthBEAST Regional is a competitive poetry event held in the Central Square area of Cambridge. Nationally registered slam venues from New England and beyond are invited to compete for bragging rights, poetic glory, and a spot at the 2009 National Poetry Slam.

Come out to watch the fun on Friday, October 3, as poetry teams from all over the northeastern U.S. deliver all the tricks of storytelling, theatre, stand-up comedy, and cold hard poetry to wheedle points from judges selected from the audience.

Then, on Saturday, October 4, feel free to join in at our daytime workshops and open mics to try your hand at performance poetry yourself. Finally, on Saturday night, we’ll present the top twelve poets of the weekend as they battle for the NorthBEAST 2008 individual title!

Tickets to our preliminary events and open mics are available at the door. Workshop and finals tickets may be purchased at poetrytickets.com, or by contacting northbeast@slamnews.com.
